Lady in the Water (2006)

One of the most revolutionary directors in Hollywood is also one of my two favorite directors, right up there with Quentin Tarantino. I speak of course of M. Night Shyamalan. In his latest big-budget blockbuster, Lady in the Water, Night has cast Paul Giamatti, following up on his Golden Globe nominated run in Sideways (2004) and Bryce Dallas Howard, last seen as Ivy Walker in The Village (2004).

This continues Shyamalan's "Director's Trademark" of using one actor from his last movie in his next movie. For example, Bruce Willis from The Sixth Sense (1999) starred in Unbreakable (2000), Joaquin Phoenix from Signs (2002) also starred in The Village (2004) and now Howard. Night's other "Director's Trademark" is also present in this movie, namely that all of his movies are always filmed in the state of Pennsylvania, and in his adopted hometown of Philadelphia, whenever possible.

Since this film is just in pre-production, not much is yet known, but what is known is that the premise of the movie is as follows: A Philadelphia apartment complex Superintendent discovers a sea nymph living in the building's swimming pool.
